Welcome to my tree house!

My name is Robin and I have the pleasure of staying home with my three wonderful children and our wacky dog Duke. I am a city girl who has recently moved to 1.5 acres in the country and am truly enjoying it. Along with our new house, my husband recently bought me a new laptop. So I have decided it is time I use it for something besides shopping for the latest toys, tutus, and football jerseys. I love to write and would love to share my true passion, my family, and the topics that come along with us.

My husband is the love of my life and my best friend. He works many, many hours. He works behind the desk as a “suit”. He also gets his hands callused as an amazing fabricator. He enjoys both, but his favorite job is being a husband and father.

Together my husband and I have three beautiful children. The oldest, is our 12-year-old daughter. She is a special needs child with severe global disabilities. She is beautiful and lights up the darkest room with her smile. Her laughter is contagious and she is always flinging around her long arms and legs when she gets excited. Our “Monkey”, as I call her, is in fact so special that I am writing about unique issues that she faces, which can be found under The Monkey’s Vine.

The middle child is Bub, a direct clone of my husband. He is an active 2 1/2-year-old. He is so full of energy that he often gets skinned knees from his feet not being able to keep up with his enthusiasm. He is definitely a goofball, but such a love bug. He loves to give lots of hugs and kisses especially to his sisters.

The youngest child is 1 years old. We call her Pumpkin. She seems to have been born wearing a tiara. She demands attention, especially from me. We often respond to her with “yes, your royal cuteness”- although this may be a self-fulfilling prophecy as her large tutu collection may not be helping our cause. She is an adorable chunky baby with cheeks that get attention from strangers everywhere we go.

The Duke. Well, he is a Queensland Heeler and Lab mix with some screws loose upstairs. He is pure entertainment and a best friend to all. He is curled up in the roots of my treehouse.

Robin’s tree house is where I love to be. I’m nestled in and enjoying life. I have an amazing family. Our lives are definitely not perfect, but we are perfectly happy to be living them.  My laundry pile is high, my vacuum is always running, and the kitchen never closes. Our children keep me busy and our house a mess, our floors sticky and my mini van is their crumb catcher. As long as my cup is full of caffeine I can take on the world, one spill at a time.

I enjoyed your site. My daughter has special needs and both my husband and I have to work, which limits my time with my daughter, so my daughter and I picked a couple of hobbies to work on so we can talk and enjoy doing something that is unique between us. We now have quite a selection of jewelry that we are now thinking of going into business. Just wanted to share that for sometimes the simple things in life are the most enjoyable.

Darlene, thank you for visiting my site. I thoroughly enjoy hearing the positives that come out of having a child with special needs. You are so correct when you say the simple things in life are the most enjoyable. My daughter and I love to sing “I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly” together, along with other children’s songs, we both laugh. It is so great to find even a small amount of time to spend with my oldest daughter, I enjoy our time together. I hope to see your jewelry collection soon, I’m sure it will be fabulous when created with such love.
